CHIMNEY AND FIREPLACE RELINING

Fireplace Relining

Chimney liners damaged by fire, lightening, deteriorated byChimney Fire age, or originally installed improperly need to be replaced to protect your home. Relining a fireplace flue involves inserting a lifetime UL-listed stainless steel liner system with proper insulation into an existing chimney. This method of repair is the most effective, affordable way to repair chimney liner damage to meet NFPA 211 safety codes. Full Service Chimney uses the finest in chimney lining/relining materials and proven, reliable craftsman – using the highest quality stainless steel chimney liner material, we will repair your flue so your chimney will work properly.

Why Reline a Furnace Flue?Smoke Stack Fire

Acid-laden moisture from furnaces and hot water heaters break down the chimney interior and cause leaks, or blockages that send odorless and colorless, but very deadly, carbon monoxide gas into your home.

Chimney SweepingToday’s gas-fired appliances emit a considerable amount of water vapor. If not vented into a properly-sized flue, condensation in the chimney can become a serious hazard. If you have a gas-fired appliance connected to your chimney, it is critical to have the chimney checked periodically by a chimney professional. Don’t make the assumption that just because there is no smoke, there is no problem with the chimney. Odorless, colorless carbon monoxide fumes from improperly vented gas appliances can be fatal.

At the very least, furnace flues must be inspected when the furnace is replaced and when the property is sold. Chimney relining is often the most practical and affordable way to repair a deteriorated or damaged chimney. In addition to chimney damage, older chimneys may be unlined or their liners may be deteriorated to the point where relining is warranted.

DOES YOUR CHIMNEY LOOK FINE ON THE OUTSIDE?

Cracked Liner

Note: Cracked liners & missing mortar between flue tiles, both safety violations of NFPA 211

Your chimney, like most chimneys, probably appears to be in fine condition on the outside. But let’s take a close look at what really counts in chimney operation … the inside.

These conditions may be the result of a number of causes including: flue fires, an improperly vented or misused stove, poor construction, excessive moisture, and more.

Continued use of a fireplace or furnace vented in a damaged liner can result in the loss of property or life.

Flue fires occur thousands of times each year, due to defects in a chimney liner system. It can be as simple as a spark flitting through a crack in the chimney wall into the attic or a chimney ember igniting a creosote fire which then climbs the full height of the chimney “looking” for an opening in the chimney wall or simply excessive heat reflected through chimney walls when a clay liner is missing. There is an answer!!
